Sun, sea plus extras

Sun, beaches ... and more

Ten kilometres of unspoiled beaches, beach themes for children, young and old, incredible underwater landscapes and a rich historical heritage forged over the centuries, await the visitor in Mazarron.

The municipality of Mazarrón is situated in a privileged environment of the Mediterranean, boasts 35 kilometers of coastline, of which 10 are of unspoilt coastline. The sun and the beach are undeniable attractions of this coastal corner of Murcia, which holds other 'surprises' to the thousands of people who choose to enjoy the holidays and free time. And is that Mazarrón is also an ideal place to immerse yourself in an irresistible past has left its mark on numerous historical monuments, artistic and cultural or walking trails to breathe in nature.

The municipality receives visitors throughout the year. Its major tourist attraction makes it the second home of Murcia and many people from other regions, as well as many foreign, especially German and English, which they choose to live 365 days a year.

Undoubtedly, this charming coastal village lies in its numerous beaches, many of them awarded the Q for Quality Tourism and blue flags. The council is promoting initiatives that appeal to add value to their tourism. That is the aim of the initiative 'More than Sun and Beach', which includes the development of free leisure activities during the summer, Easter and the end of the year with great success between Mazarron and visitors. Some of these proposals are aerobics on the beach for children, youth and adults, rural hiking and cultural tours of the monuments, archaeological sites and places of interest in the company of guides.

To these are added the so-called beach theme; where older youth and children have their special space. One such area is developed as a beach winter (Castellar), one for older people can enjoy a nice bath with all the services they need (the beach of Port) and for no other sport (Bolnuevo). This project marks a before and after in the traditional concept of coastal tourism and places the municipality and the Region at the forefront in the supply of sun and sea in Europe and the Mediterranean.

But also to be known for its architectural heritage, archaeological and monumental. You can make a trip back in time from prehistory to the present by visiting archaeological sites, buildings, mansions and museums. Thus, from the Age of Metals has been witness to the Chalcolithic fortified town of Cave Cabezo Lead, considered one of the main settlements of that period in the peninsular. Also archaeological remains have been found from Phoenician settlements in Los Gavilanes and the beach of the island in this latter zone Phoenician wrecks have been found crucial in underwater archeology Mazarrón that place as the focal point of Phoenician trade in the Mediterranean. The mineral wealth of the region of Mazarrón also attracted Roman colonization, which occurred rapidly in the late-Republican period. From this period archaeological remains were found in the Loma de Sánchez and Coto Fortuna, although the true Roman colonization occurred between the second and first centuries a. DC., leaving many traces.

With the passage of time life would focus on the town of Mazarron with mining of the alums, while fishing was marked by insecurity that gave rise to the incursions of Barbary pirates. That explains why the Islamic era were built in several watchtowers and the Castle of Velez.

During the nineteenth and twentieth century industrial Mazarrón was reactivated due to return to the holding of the old mines. From 1880 he reached a stage of glory with the investment of large European firms and the imminent development of World War I, which increased demand for manufactures of metal for making weapons. Since that time, architecture and urbanism responded to this economic resurgence, with the notable buildings were constructed of fine examples are preserved.

Paramount Takes A Serious Look At Murcia.

Paramount takes a serious look at MURCIA

Paramount Pictures has chosen the region of Murcia to prepare for its landing in Europe. It is in the planning and viability stage of constructing the largest theme and entertaining park in Spain. They plan to compete with Disneyland Paris. Being Americans…they have a put a short time span for the viability study that will commence now and end in just one month.

The mild climate in the Region of Murcia with 300 days of sunshine a year, its location in central Mediterranean Arc and the new international airport, along with the AVE line High Speed Train, are all factors that have influenced the decision. Murcia Spain is a wonderful investment even in the downturn of the economy and we as owners of Condado De Alhama & Camposol can only hope and celebrate the coming of such a company to our region of Spain.

Murcia would become the entertainment center of Spain with a complex of 2.5 square kilometers (equivalent to two thousand five hundred football fields) to create 20,000 jobs and would bring three million new tourists into the country and region.

Paramount is offered Condado De Alhama II as the Best site in Murcia

As we reported last week, Paramount Studios are interested in bringing a theme park to Murcia Spain and are currently performing a viability study which it plans to complete this month. The mayor offers Condado De Alhama II to Paramount as the best location for the theme park, the parcel of land has all the paperwork approved with the environmental planning department. It also has guaranteed water supply, has its own electrical substation and a water treatment plant. Is close to the new international airport Corvera to open late this year and is ideally located on route to Mazarron. It is believed that the plan would be endorsed by the city of Totana.

So, what does that mean for Condado De Alhama I & Camposol owners? Well it means you should be wishing real hard. The property prices on Condado & Camposol will sky rocket if this plan is accepted and approved by Paramount. The viability study will be completed soon, if it is approved, crack open the champagne if you own a property here.
